Last year FGDA hosted a successful Global Game Jam here in Boca Raton and are back for another round.

This year we are teaming up with Florida Game Developers Association, DMAC (Digital Media Art College), and the Foundry to bring together art and science under one roof to create amazing games with everyone around the world.

The Game Jam is open to everyone interested in creating games, whether you are a beginner, hobbyist, professional game developer., etc. You can make any type of game at the Jam, no one is limited to just creating video games. Attendance is free, and raffles during the event.

We are glad to have local indie developers Andy and Dylan from Jupiter Lighthouse as our local keynote speakers for the Global Game Jam to kickoff  on Friday. Both are industry veterans from the Video Game and Software Development industries respectively who have come back home to South Florida to create their own games !

Free training in 3D and coding will be provided by both Fort Lauderdale ACM SIGGRAPH and FGDA on January 9th and 16th, all leading up to the Game Jam for those interested in making video games. They will take place at the North Boynton Hack Lab, starting at 7 pm both days. You can RSVP to these events through FGDA’s meetup page, here for the 9th and here for the 16th.

    • Dylan Engelman,Dylan a The programming half of Jupiter Lighthouse Studio.Self taught developer who landed his first job 3 months after writing first line of code. Sharpened his skills on business software and web services while developing games as a hobby on the weekends. • AndrewAndrew Hilderbrand, The art & design half of Jupiter Lighthouse Studio.Industry veteren with 7+ years of experience. He has gone from garage start-up to the the world’s leading videogame company and back again. Triple A work was amazing, but the lure of smaller production ultimately won out. He is heavily influenced by South Florida & PS1 era graphics.

  • Greg Brown Digital Artist for the Foundry, will be onsite during the Game Jam to help users create 3D content for the games. He has worked in Advertising as a 3D artist for 5 years and as a freelance Character Modeler for 8.  Greg has produced work for variety of high profile brands during his time at Alter, including Coors, Mcdonalds, Corona, Bacardi, Hersheys, Cox Cable and many others.  He currently lives in Chicago, Il and spends his days serving up fresh, hot Modo goodness…

Parking is free at the venue and participants will receive guest passes to access the Campus for the duration of the Jam . Everyone attending will be required to sign a Liability Waiver when they arrive on site at the event (if they are under 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the document)
